Is Tab right for my business?

What types of businesses can use Tab?
Tab is designed for tourist businesses that have foreign customers (our platform is built to handle multiple currencies easily). Of course, your local customers can also use Tab!

We work with hotels, hostels, restaurants, dive shops, trekking companies…and many other businesses offering tourist services. If you'd like to know whether Tab can work with your business, just ask us.
Is Tab only for large businesses?
Not at all. Lots of small and family-run businesses use Tab, as well as larger hotels/hostels and chains.
What do I need to use Tab?
To sign up and take advance bookings using Tab, you can just access our website on any browser.

If you want to use the full set of Tab features, including letting customers settle their bill at check-out, you also need a smartphone or tablet (Apple or Android) to run the Tab for Business app.
How easy is Tab to use?
Very easy! Tourist businesses have new staff starting all the time, so we’ve designed Tab to work easily for first-time users.

The website and app will guide you through each step, and we’re always here to help if you have any questions.
What are the benefits of Tab?
Happy customers – your customers can pay how they want to and in their own currency, saving on ATM fees and foreign card usage fees.

Reduce no-shows – confirm bookings by taking payments from customers in advance.

Sell more to your customers – customers can pay with a card when they are low on cash, so you can sell more food/drink, travel and activities.

Reach more customers – the Tab network will let you reach travellers who are nearby, so you can promote events and your business to the right people at the right time.

Where does Tab work?

Which countries and currencies do you support?
We can take payments in over 100 currencies, from Argentinian Peso to Zambian Kwacha. That means your customers save by paying in their own currency – with no bank fees for using their card abroad, guaranteed!

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover & JCB.

We can work with businesses in almost every country, with local payouts to a local bank account. There are a small number of countries where we cannot operate due to international sanctions. If you’re not sure, just ask us.
Can I set my customer prices in USD instead of my local currency?
Yes, that’s fine – just select USD pricing when you sign up. You can still choose to receive payouts in local currency or USD.

If we convert your payouts from USD to local currency, we use pure exchange rates with no commission or fees.
Are there fees to receive payouts? How long does a payout take to arrive?
We send a payout for your available balance every week on a Wednesday. The vast majority of payouts arrive in your account within 1-2 days, but can take a few days longer due to bank holidays.

We cover the cost of sending payouts to your account, which means we need may need to apply a minimum payout. If your balance is below this, we'll hold it until the following week.

Your bank may charge you a small fee to receive a USD payment from abroad, but this is extremely rare for payments in your local currency. You can request less frequent payouts, if you prefer.
What currency exchange rates do you use?
We always use pure exchange rates, with no hidden commission – so our rates are unbeatable. We handle 100+ currencies, so almost every customer can pay in their own currency.

We guarantee that customers will not be charged a foreign transaction fee or currency exchange fee by their bank or card issuer. If that does happen, we will fully refund the fee charged by the customer's bank.

We update our currency rates every day. We use the mid-point between the buy and the sell rates, from major sources like Yahoo Finance, xe.com and Oanda.

Getting started with Tab

What do I need to sign up?
When you complete our sign-up form, we ask for a few details about your business, so we can understand if Tab is a good fit for you. We then need to verify your identity and your bank account details for payouts.

If you have questions, you can also book a welcome phone call with our merchant team.

Lastly, we set your account limits. You start with a per-customer and per-day limit on your Tab account. But these can be increased once you have used Tab regularly for 3 months.

We then activate your account, and you can start using Tab immediately. The whole process usually takes 2-3 days from start to finish.
